The news of the presence of a bug in the section for reporting the sitemap present in the old Google Search Console was given in these hours directly by John Mueller.

John Mueller in a  Google Webmaster Help thread says that: “We currently have a bug on our side with regards to the reporting in the Sitemaps section of the old Search Console with regards to image indexing for sites that are in the mobile-first index .” “This does not affect the actual indexing & amp ; ranking of the images or the web pages, it's just a reporting issue. We're currently working on resolving this issue”.

Google's Senior Webmaster Trends Analyst immediately yeezys shoes informed SEOs and site owners of the incident, inviting everyone to take the news into consideration, but not to worry since reporting the bug does not affect how the site or content is positioned in Google searches.

John says the bug affected the old version of Search ) in its indexing of images for sites that are in the mobile-first index .

However, this is only a reporting issue that does not affect the indexing and ranking of images or web pages in any way, adding that Google is “currently working to resolve this issue.”

As we wrote last week, Google is currently having some issues on multiple fronts within the Search Console that it is trying to fix, such as the problem reported a few days ago with crawl delays in the new Google Search Console ( read the article ).

We remind our readers that our editorial team had also highlighted a one-week delay in the  mobile usability and AMP reports , while the index coverage report had a delay of only two days as of last Friday, fully within the timeframes expected for Google Search Console reports.
