On December 6, Google will end Nearby Notifications on Android, the feature that was meant to provide specific location information.
The reason for this drastic decision is easy to explain: proximity notifications are increasingly being targeted by marketers and spammers .
As we know, Google introduced the Nearby Notifications feature in 2015 along with other location-based services.
The world's most powerful search engine envisioned a service that would proactively provide useful information to people throughout their day .
The idea, more than excellent, was born so that the developers could create focuses on the position of the single user so that through the ping of the devices the user would receive a notification on where to find, for example, free Wi-Fi or when the next bus was expected to arrive.
Nearby Notifications was part of a larger effort by Google to provide information to people before they could even ask for it.
The company had already done this with its now defunct Google Now launcher where it tried to highlight the applications that each of us might need based on the time, location and history of searches made on Google,
